Customer Review: A primer and guide for the home-based business owner
Money-Smart Secrets is an thorough guide for both new and experienced small business owners. The book is particularly suited for home-based, small businesses, but the principals are applicable to any size business.

The book provides concise business tips on budgeting, taxes, family vs. business balances, common sense, fee setting, and hiring. While none of the topics, fortunately, is covered exhaustively, the information provided is adequate for most people and serves as a good basis for discussing issues with a business advisor.

The most enjoyble part of the book is the practical discussion of topics in plain English — eg, basing spending decisions on after-tax dollars. The book is obviously written from the experiences of a business owner. The most important tip, emphasized many times, is taking vacations. This may sound like an odd tip for a money-smart (not to be equated with cheap) guide, but vacations are an extremely necessary part of running your own business. This type of practical advice lends credibility to the book.

What I did not like: — too much emphasis on home-based businesses — some topics seemed to contain minor errors (computers and IRAs) Click to Buy Now!

A lot of people today tired of the 9-5 race and the fact that they are working hard to make their boss rich decide to start a home based business either full-time or part-time by keeping their old job. What they soon realize is that they have no clue where they are going and what they want to do. They try the first things they come to their minds or their attention without proper planning and much thought and as a result they soon face failure and abandon their dream.

What is the reason that most of them fail? What mistakes they do and how someone can avoid them? What should they have done from the beginning in order to have more chances to succeed?

Well at first it’s a fact that not everyone would succeed in this, nowhere else in life we have a 100% success rate so this field couldn’t differ. I don’t know whether it is that they can never posses the necessary skills they didn’t really have that desire or it is not their true calling but the fact is that failure is an integrated part in our lives and will always be people that would fail. The big difference is how everyone is handling this experience and use it to his advantage in the future.

To save the rumbling lets get to the first question the reason that most of them fail. In my opinion one of the big reasons if not the biggest is their mindset and their motives. Though they may seem like two different reasons to you for me is one and the same as I believe that their motives greatly influence and shape their mindset.

So what kind of motive and mindset lead them to face failure?

Well if you haven’t guessed until now I am referring to the get away from motive. In these people’s mind is what they try to avoid. They don’t want a boss anymore, they don’t like their work schedule, they don’t want someone to tell them what to do and etc. . The primary reason for them to get in the home based business sector is because they see it as the solution to avoid all their work related problems. Instead of focusing on what they want to achieve by this change and what positive results will this bring to their lives they focus on what they don’t want.

I am sorry to say this at this point but with such a mentality no one can go far in any part of his life let alone business itself. Besides the known law of attraction that you get what you are thinking of, which is hard to be proved, there are more practical and within common sense reasons for such a thing to happen in the business field. These motives leads to a series of mistakes that doom the home business entrepreneur.

Mistake number 1

They get impatience and they want to avoid as fast as they can their current problems so they jump to whichever opportunity or idea that comes to their attention or their mind in that order.

Mistake number 2

Or a consequence of their first mistake they don’t plan properly, if they plan at all.

Those two mistakes are very crucial and responsible for the majority of home based businesses failures and all come as a consequence of not having the right motives to start.

If you really want to succeed in this field you got to have the right motives, motives that would help you to take better decisions and give you the strength and determination to work hard and organized within a plan that would eventually help you to build a successful business. To do that you need to concentrate on what you want from your home based business, what positive things would bring to your life, what kind of person it would help you to become. Visualize yourself in the future as a successful business owner and what it helped you to achieve financially and most of all personally instead of bringing pictures of your boss and your daily work troubles in your mind.

By having the right motives you would be able to become more patient and have a clear picture of what you really want. You would have the mental clarity to organize a plan of action with the right steps to follow in order to build a thriving home based business. You would have the wisdom to take into consideration your skills and passions when you decide what kind of business you will start.

Motives are great things that can help us design and move forward in the future knowing where we want to go and what we want to achieve. Like all things there are motives that can help us get there faster and others that would prohibit us for getting there. It is in our hands to choose those that would be beneficial to us and concentrate on them so they can give us the inspiration and proper mindset in order to succeed. Don’t get this subject lightly cause it’s a factor that really counts and separates the successful ones that make their dreams happen from the big mass of those who fail.
